What is a Neuro CT?

Neuro CT involves imaging of the head, neck, orbits, temporal bones, paranasal sinuses, facial bones and spine. These CT examinations are designed to specifically address the central nervous system and associated structures.

Whether to evaluate a persistent sinus condition, chronic headaches, hearing loss or any number of other neurologically based conditions, Fairfax Radiology's certified sub-specialized Neuroradiologists can quickly provide a complete diagnosis of injury, symptom or pathology, so you can spend less time worrying about your symptoms and more time focusing on your life.

What should I expect during a Neuro CT?

If this is your first CT, you may not be sure what to expect. Not to worry, we are here to guide you every step of the way. This test is relatively quick and painless. During a Neuro CT, you will lie on the padded scanner table. You will be asked to hold very still as the table moves through the CT scanner, capturing images. You may hear a humming sound from inside the machine. A contrast agent may be given to you intravenously for the exam. The Technologist will be in the adjacent room operating the scanner, but will be able to hear and communicate with you throughout the exam. The entire test takes just a few minutes.
