FAIRFAX, Va., July 2026 — Fairfax Radiology Centers (FRC), the region’s largest and most experienced radiology practice, is pleased to welcome James Sangmin Lee, M.D., to its team as a Musculoskeletal Radiology specialist. Dr. Lee brings advanced fellowship training in musculoskeletal imaging, extensive academic and research experience, and a strong background in using advanced imaging to evaluate a wide range of complex conditions.
Dr. Lee completed his Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, following his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. He completed his medical degree at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, graduating cum laude, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, where he graduated summa cum laude.
During his training at Yale, Dr. Lee also worked with the Tumor Imaging Metrics Core at Yale School of Medicine, providing standardized and longitudinal tumor measurements across CT, MRI and PET/CT for patients enrolled in clinical trials. His work included evaluating treatment response using established imaging criteria and protocols.

Dr. Lee has contributed to numerous research projects and academic presentations throughout his medical training. His work has been presented at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America and has included research on imaging complications, CT-guided procedures, vascular conditions and patient radiation exposure. He has also contributed to peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific and medical journals.

At FRC, Dr. Lee will provide specialized musculoskeletal imaging services, using advanced diagnostic imaging to help evaluate conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles, tendons and other soft tissues. His extensive experience with multimodality imaging and academic research further complements FRC’s commitment to subspecialized radiology care.
Dr. Lee is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology and the American Medical Association. He is also fluent in Korean.
