FAIRFAX, Va., August 2025 — Fairfax Radiology (FRC) is pleased to announce the addition of Joshua H. Carrier, MD, who has joined the practice’s Interventional Radiology (IR) team. Dr. Carrier brings advanced clinical training, extensive research accomplishments, and distinguished leadership experience from one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers.
Dr. Carrier comes to FRC from the University of Michigan, where he served as Chief Resident and Administrative Fellow in the Department of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. In this role, he led resident orientation, enhanced curriculum design, coordinated didactic conferences, and contributed to program development initiatives—including creating a new longitudinal IR clinic experience for trainees.

Dr. Carrier earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He then completed his General Surgery internship and Integrated Interventional Radiology residency at the University of Michigan, one of the nation’s leading IR training programs. He graduated with Highest Distinction from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology through the Distinguished Majors Program.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Carrier has been deeply involved in clinical research, contributing to studies in hepatocellular carcinoma treatment, renal tumor treatment, chemoresistant head and neck cancer, and molecular mechanisms of inflammation in multiple sclerosis. His work has been presented internationally at CIRSE and published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Carrier has also delivered numerous invited presentations and lectures, including sessions at the University of Michigan, University of Virginia, and national scientific meetings. He has been recognized with multiple “Making a Difference” awards from Michigan Medicine for excellence in patient care and collaboration.
