Fairfax Radiology Centers Welcomes Dr. Rakhee Gawande

Fairfax, VA — July 17, 2025 — Fairfax Radiology Centers is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Rakhee Gawande, a nationally recognized expert in thoraco-abdominal and oncologic imaging, to our distinguished team of radiologists. Dr. Gawande brings over two decades of clinical, academic, and research excellence to the practice, further strengthening Fairfax Radiology’s commitment to delivering world-class diagnostic care.

Dr. Gawande joins Fairfax Radiology from Johns Hopkins University, where she served as Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Body Imaging section since 2017. Her clinical expertise spans advanced cross-sectional imaging, including CT, MRI, and ultrasound, with a specialized focus on gastrointestinal and oncologic imaging. She has been a key contributor to multidisciplinary cancer care teams, particularly in rectal and gastric cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Gawande is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology and holds multiple advanced fellowships in pediatric radiology, neuroradiology, nuclear radiology, and abdominal imaging. She has authored over 20 peer-reviewed research articles, contributed to numerous book chapters, and presented at leading national and international radiology conferences. Her work has been recognized with prestigious honors, including the Society of Pediatric Radiology Research Fellow Award and the Abdominal Radiology Distinguished Reviewer Award.

In addition to her clinical and research accomplishments, Dr. Gawande is a passionate educator and mentor. She has led radiology lecture series for residents and fellows and served as Educational Director of Body MRI and Fellowship Director for Emergency Radiology at Johns Hopkins.
