Fairfax, VA — September 23, 2025 — Fairfax Radiology Centers is pleased to welcome Dr. Ashkan A. Malayeri, MD, a nationally recognized expert in body imaging and advanced MRI techniques.

Dr. Malayeri joins Fairfax Radiology following an impressive tenure at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he served as Section Chief of Body Imaging in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences. His career spans over two decades of clinical excellence, academic leadership, and groundbreaking research in radiology.

A graduate of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Malayeri completed his residency and fellowship in Radiology and Body MRI at Johns Hopkins University, where he also held faculty appointments. His work has been widely published, with over 100 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters, and national presentations in areas such as whole-body MRI, cancer screening, kidney cancer imaging, radiogenomics, and artificial intelligence in radiology.

Dr. Malayeri has led multiple NIH-funded research initiatives, including pioneering efforts in photon-counting CT, Low-Field MRIand AI-based imaging for hereditary cancers. He is a recipient of numerous accolades, including the RSNA Fellow Research Grant, NIH CEO Award, and multiple Research Awards for Staff Clinicians.

Dr. Malayeri is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology and holds active medical licenses in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. He is a respected member of the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, and serves on editorial board of the premier journal in imaging sciences - Radiology.
