Make Your Health Your Resolution in the New Year

Many of us make resolutions in the New Year. A common resolution is to focus on your health and fitness. Let Fairfax Radiology work with you!  Screening exams are used to detect unsuspected abnormalities and are an important part of health maintenance. Early detection of disease can save lives through prompt and often more effective treatment.

Screening Mammography

Screening Mammograms are recommended annually for women beginning at the age of 40. Screening may also be recommended for women under 40 if there is a family history of breast cancer or have other known risk factors. Utilizing the latest technology, Fairfax Radiology offers the lowest dose and highest quality digital x-ray imaging process.

Bone Density Scan (DXA)

As we age, our bone structure may weaken. This is especially true in postmenopausal women. A Bone Density Scan, also called Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA), is a specialized test that uses a very small dose of radiation to measure bone loss and help determine risk for fractures.

Lung Screening

Annual Lung Screening is recommended for people at higher risk for developing lung cancer. Specialized low dose CT examinations use up to 90% less radiation than a conventional CT scan and can identify nodules and lung cancer that would not be visible on a regular chest x-ray.

Heart Screening

A Calcium Scoring CT Heart Scan is a quick and easy tool used to detect calcification of the coronary arteries of the heart. It is an accurate predictor of future heart attack risk. This information can help guide lifestyle changes and/or medical intervention.

In high risk patients, advanced screening with a Coronary CTA (computed tomography angiography) may be recommended. This provides a 3D image of the heart, looking for narrowing of the coronary arteries as well as soft and calcified plaques. We are the most experienced site in the region to offer this fast, noninvasive and diagnostic procedure.
