Vascular & Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology is a medical specialty devoted to advancing patient care through the innovative integration of imaging-based diagnosis and minimally invasive therapies

Interventional radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in targeted treatments performed using imaging for guidance. They use their expertise in reading X-rays, ultrasound, MRI and other diagnostic imaging, to diagnose conditions and then provide treatment without surgery by guiding tiny instruments, such as catheters, through the blood vessels or through the skin.

Interventional radiologists are board certified physicians who have, in addition to medical school, also completed four years of diagnostic radiology training followed by a year or more of additional fellowship training in minimally invasive image-guided interventions.

FRC's Interventional Radiology service encompasses two sub-specialized sections:
Vascular & Interventional, which focuses on conditions throughout the body, and
Interventional Neuroradiology, for conditions involving the spine and brain.
