Q. Why do I have a bill from Fairfax Radiology and Inova Health System for the same services?
A. If services are provided at any Inova owned facility

- Access of Reston
- Access of Fairfax
- Fairfax MRI Center at Fairfax
- Fairfax MRI Center at Reston
- PET/CT Imaging Center
- as an inpatient
- as an emergency or urgent care patient
- as an outpatient in the hospital
- as an outpatient at one of the Inova Health System outpatient facilities
...then each provider bills separately for its 'component' of the service. The Inova Health System bill is for the '
technical component', which is to cover the costs of the facility, equipment, technicians and supplies. Fairfax Radiology's bill is for the '
professional component', which is for the supervision and interpretation provided by our radiologist for the exam performed.
Q. Why do I have a bill from the hospital when I went to an FRC location?
A. Some FRC facilities (see list below) are owned by Inova Health System and considered an outpatient department of the hospital. Fairfax Radiology provides management and professional services at the facility. Each provider bills separately for its services.

Q. My insurance should have paid 100%. Why am I being billed for a balance?
A. Provided we have complete and accurate insurance billing information, we only release a bill to you once we have received payment or denial from your insurance company. You should have received an explanation of benefits statement from your insurer showing the amount you are responsible for paying and what it is for. Since we do not know exactly what the terms of your insurance benefits are, we suggest you contact your insurer if you have any questions about, or disagree with, the balance they have indicated is your responsibility to pay. The member services phone number for your insurer should be on the back of your insurance card.
Q. Do you accept payment by credit card over the phone?
A. Yes, we accept credit card payments by phone and have a phone line for this purpose. American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa are all accepted. Please have the following information available when you call; the patient name, account number of date of service, the amount you plan to pay, the cardholder name, address, card number and expiration date. Q. May I come in to your billing office (to make payment, deliver a copy of an insurance card, etc.)?
