About Low-Dose CT
The new CT scanners at FRC utilize an x-ray detector that is 100 times faster than any other CT scanner detector, and generates higher resolution images than previous systems. The advanced technology enables physicians to see internal structures in the human body as small as a grain of sand. The radiation dose reduction is enabled by combination of new detectors, a new x-ray tube, and a new image reconstruction algorithm that allows for creation of high-resolution diagnostic images from substantially reduced amount of x-rays.
Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction, an innovative GE Healthcare application, is the newest technology that reduces image "noise" and improves the clarity of the diagnostic image.
